The family of the woman allegedly murdered by a Cal Fire Battalion Chief is coming to her defense even as the hunt for him is gaining national attention.
New allegations are arising as to what may have triggered the Thursday morning stabbing death of 26-year-old Sarah Douglas including threats she may have made against her lover's family.
"The reason he did this to her is because she was in some way threatening him or his family, or that she could have someone else do that, is absolutely absurd," Douglas' aunt, Trina Werly told News10.
Werly also argues that Douglas was in the relationship for more than just the money.
"He pursued her, and she really thought she cared about him, that's what's ironic," she said.
Meanwhile, Orville Fleming has been on the run for four days, but that's not deterring law enforcement.
Sacramento Sheriff Scott Jones tells Good Morning America that the department is better at tracking fugitives than Fleming is at being one.
Fleming is being sought in connection to the stabbing death of his fiancee, Douglas.
