There's more to the work of a police dog than you might think.
Jet, a K-9 officer stopped by the KFBK studios -- along with his handler -- to remind people of the purpose the dogs serve with law enforcement.
Deputy Shawn Rosner with the Placer County Sheriff's Office says these dogs are critical to the job they do.
K-9s have been used for more than 105 years, Rosner said.
"Our dogs are a searching and locating tool. Our dogs are not considered an application of force like a firearm would be, or a baton, or pepper spray," he said.
The dogs helps locate drugs, illegal narcotics, money, lost people and much more.
Rosner says financial support is needed for 50 active and retired K-9s in 17 different organizations.
A comedy night is planned at Laughs Unlimited in Old Sacramento this Sunday.
Tickets are just $20. For more info check out foothillsk9.org.
