A grass fire along the American River Parkway closed a portion of eastbound Business 80 this afternoon.

Crews say the blaze broke out near Sutter's Landing and led to the closure of the freeway from E Street to Exposition, as smoke blew across the roadway.

The fire burned along dry grass near railroad tracks and nearly made it to highway lanes.

It's not known at this time just how the fire started but arson investigators did question one person.

Eight acres had burned by the time the fire was brought under control.
