The first truly "visible" sign of demolition at Downtown Plaza are under way this morning with crews working to bring down buildings at 515 L Street.

Before the sun was even up, heavy equipment, including three big bulldozers, was already in place.

Demolition will move through the mall until everything is down and a new foundation will be put up.

Sacramento Kings President Chris Granger stopped by the demolition site this morning to see how the progress was coming.

The Sacramento Kings say they'll put up live camera shots online and a viewing window for the public has also been put up at 7th and K Streets.

It was just last week that crews started punching holes into what used to be the Macy's men's store at the mall.

The team says it will also hold an open house later this month.

The public is encouraged to attend the open house on Aug. 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 660 J Street, Suite 360. Representatives will provide a project timeline and overview. RSVP here.

Stay with NewsRadio KFBK and throughout the year as we follow the demolition and full construction of the downtown Entertainment and Sports Complex.
