Work on the "Fix 50 Project" is on schedule as the project moves through its third day. Crews have already removed the first layer on the actual deck of Eastbound 50.

'We've [ground] everything down, we've even demolished quite a bit of the site, we're going to be lifting a lot of metal and rebar up to the top surface,' says Cal-Trans Spokesman Dennis Keaton.

Keaton also says crews hope to begin pouring concrete as early as next Monday. 'That all depends on how fast we can get the daily work done and we're also watching that [storm]system that looks like it's heading our way,' he says.

The AMOUNT of rain is key. With crews scheduled to seal dowels into the concrete, heavy rains could delay work. A light rain, though, isn't likely to cause issues.
