You won't be able to see hydroplane racing on Folsom Lake this year, but it's not because the lake isn't deep enough.

You have to have a minimum depth for hydroplane races and, while Folsom Lake is still plenty deep in some places, there's not enough deep water for racing this year.

"Rather than sell tickets, get everyone all excited about us coming back, we said, 'hey, let's just pull the plug,'" H1 Unlimited Chairman Sam Cole said.

Cole says he wanted to follow up on 2013's return to racing after a 45 year absence.

"If there's water in the lake by, you know, late August or September, we could come back here at that time," Cole said.

Otherwise, the races will have to wait at least until 2015.
