The FBI has finally caught up with a fugitive who's believed to have killed her husband in Plumas County and has been on the run for years

The FBI now says 48-year old Nazira Cross is in jail in Lima, Peru.

"We had an unlawful flight to avoid prosecution warrant for her arrest. We have been looking for her since 2008," Gina Swankie with the Sacramento FBI said.

Swankie says the international search ended thanks to a tip generated by media coverage.

Plumas County Sheriff Greg Hagwood says Nazira Cross, a Cost Rican national, is believed to have poisoned her husband Michael Cross.

"They were spending time at his vacation residence in Plumas County where he unexpectedly and inexplicably took ill," Hagwood said.

She later allegedly took his body to a family ranch and buried it there.

No word on how long extradition to California will take.
