Firefighters want you stay away from the area of Broadway at Third Avenue right now because a work crew punctured a 2-inch gas line there.

"We've currently evacuated approximately 20 residents that live on top of the mix-use building," Sacramento City Fire spokesman Robert Padilla said.

Padilla says that's directly in front of the 40-Acres Art Gallery.

"SPD is currently helping us, and we've secured about a two block perimeter around the leak," he said.

Meaning Broadway is close from 34th to 35th Streets.  PG&E crews are said to be headed there to shut off the gas.
