"We're very close."
That's the word from Governor Jerry Brown when it comes to a compromise on a new water bond.
He met with legislative leaders, suppliers, labor unions and agricultural interests this afternoon to push for a new $7.2 billion measure first unveiled yesterday.
A new bond will need some Republican support to replace one already on the ballot, but no Republicans were among those gathered together today.
A spokesman for the caucus said there still needs to be more money for storage projects.
The latest plan devotes $2.5 billion for reservoirs and dams.
