Hercules Transgender Teen Recanting Assault Claim

Hercules Transgender Teen Recanting Assault Claim
Posted March 4th, 2014 @ 4:31pm by KFBK News

This just coming in to the KFBK newsroom from The Associated Press...

Police say a California transgender teen who claimed assault in a school bathroom is recanting his story.

Police had been investigating a report of a brutal assault of a transgender teen as he was using a high school bathroom in the Northern California town of Hercules. The Bay Area News Group reports the 15-year-old told police he was leaving a high school bathroom on Monday when three boys pushed him inside a stall and physically and sexually assaulted him. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A new California law allows people to use a bathroom that matches the gender with which they identify. Police are treating the incident as a hate crime.

And now....the teen is apparently recanting that story.
