Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will be leaving President Obama's cabinet. CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Major Garret says Sebelius's resignation is because of the disastrous rollout of the Obamacare website.

"The President and all his senior advisors were blindsided by this, accepted responsibility, and then basically turned to Sebelius and said, 'you're going to inherit this mess, you're going to deal with this mess, and if/when this gets fixed you can leave on your own terms'" Garret explained.

Her resignation comes a week after the president announced that more than seven million people have enrolled.

Sebelius is the former governor of Kansas. Multiple reports indicate that U.S. Budget Director Sylvia Mathews Burwell will be nominated by President Obama to replace Sebelius.

So why did she leave?

Political analyst Gary Dietrich says this is definitely a head scratcher,

"Just last week was the massive celebration at the Obama White House of seven million signups, and they hailed that as a major victory," said Dietrich.

Speaking on the KFBK Afternoon News Thursday, Dietrich says that just ten days Sebelius was asked if she would return and responded "Absolutely."

Dietrich says this was probably a decision from the Obama Administration and not from Sebelius herself.
