Hillary Rodham Clinton is in Los Angeles to pitch her new book and give a speech at an annual awards dinner.

The former first lady and potential 2016 presidential candidate is scheduled to sign copies of "Hard Choices" -- her book about her time as secretary of state -- at a Fairfax neighborhood mall Thursday.

She's also the featured speaker at an evening gala organized by not-for-profit law firm Public Counsel.

Clinton has been on a national media blitz to promote the book, a tour that has been viewed as part of the run-up to a possible 2016 White House bid.

Clinton has deep ties to the strongly Democratic state, which she carried in the 2008 presidential primary election.

President Barback Obama eventually captured the Democratic nomination that year.
