Things have calmed down since officers forcibly removed a man who was originally only going to be cited for sleeping at City Hall. Unlike other protesters who were on the sidewalk, this man was near the front entrance.
Protesters claim that police used excessive force, but officers did give the man at least ten minutes to get up and leave or identify himself to be cited. This man says he saw what happened and is frustrated that the homeless are treated like criminals.
"Human trafficking, there's rapes, there's murders, yet look at all the police down here. It's crazy, it's like I'm living in some kind of nightmare world, but it's real!"
Protesters say they will remain at City Hall until the ordinance is lifted.
