Smoke at an air control facility outside Chicago is leading to misery for air travelers.
Hundreds of flights have been canceled or delayed after a suspension of operations at Chicago's O'Hare and Midway Airports.
That suspension was due to a small fire at an air-traffic control facility in Elgin that forced workers there to evacuate until the fire department could handle it.
Airport operations are getting back to normal, but the damage to flight plans has been done.
Flightaware.com reports that more than 700 flights out of O'Hare have been canceled or delayed, along with more than 600 flights to that airport.
So far, there have been more than 16-hundred flight cancellations in the U.S. today.
