One of the closest eye-witnesses to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy has died.
Dallas police officer Bobby Hargis was one of the motorcycle riders escorting the Kennedy limousine at the fatal moment.
Photographs show Hargis riding just off the rear left fender, closest to where the First Lady was riding.
Hargis said he was so close to the limo that he was splattered with blood from the President's fatal wound.
Hargis died Friday at the age of 81.
