Mayor Kevin Johnson wants to raise Sacramento's visibility on the national stage as the new president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

"The CEOs, that now I get a chance to give direct pitches to CEOs around the country about what we're doing around the country," Johnson said.

He's the first Sacramento mayor to hold the post in the organization's 81-year history.

As part of his duties, Johnson will be required to attend high level meetings in Washington, D.C., and run conferences attended by mayors from all over the country.
