Kings players wear purple and black, but their new arena is going to be pretty green.
The team has announced a partnership with the Green Sports Alliance, a national nonprofit, to help make their new home downtown as sustainable as possible.
President Chris Granger says that could mean everything from LED fixtures to 50 thousand solar panels.
"Literally we are placing the arena on the plaza so we can maximize the cooling potential of the Delta Breeze everyday," Granger said. "One, it's socially responsible, and two, its fiscally prudent."
Granger says the more money that's saved, the more that can be re-invested into the community.
There are already plans to integrate light rail and a future streetcar project into the arena design and you can now also expect electric car charging stations.
