The Kings are shelling out big bucks to get behind the construction of a new streetcar line downtown.
A half-million dollars is going to help fund the construction of a proposed street car line.
It's a landmark deal, according to the Sacramento Bee, where the Kings and Caltrans will partner in the line's development.
The downtown streetcar is different from lightrail as it runs in a loop connecting downtown with West Sacramento.
The money is part of the teams 'environmental mitigation' fee -- meaning putting money into plans to get people to use transit alternatives to get to the games rather than driving.
The 3 mile, $150 million, downtown loop project is expected to go into operation by 2017.
