Fishing is now officially banned on some waters in our state due to the drought.

The Office of Administrative Law this week approved emergency regulations adopted by the California Department of Fish and Game earlier this month to close some waters to anglers.

One of the closures now in effect in our area include the American River from the Nimbus Dam to the SMUD power line crossing near Ancil Hoffmann Park.

The no fishing ban is in effect until April 30th.

Fish and Game asked for the closures to protect native salmon and steelhead trout from low water flows in California streams and rivers.
