Passengers riding the light rail's Gold Line service had a rough commute Tuesday morning after a train hit power lines near Mayhew Road and Folsom Boulevard.

Regional Transit spokeswoman Alane Masui said the damage is being repaired.

"Whenever this sort of incident occurs we have to power down the substations and repair the wires and test the wires and get everything back up and running," Masui said.

A Regional Transit worker on scene expected the train to be towed from the scene shortly after 5 a.m.

The disruption along the Gold line is affecting 11 stations. A bus bridge that mirrors the line is currently in place.

Full service isn't expected to resume until after the morning commute is over.
