Fire officials say recent light rains and increased humidity have helped crews make progress against two wildfires burning in Shasta County.

The smaller of the two is within sight of the small town of Burney, though it still remains about four miles away.

The Eiler Fire has burned nearly 45 square miles and containment is now 20 percent.

It's threatening about 700 homes, some of which have been evacuated.

The Bald Fire has forced the evacuations of about a dozen homes.

It's charred 62 square miles and containment is up to 30 percent.
