U.S. Department of Homeland Security investigators say conversion labs are popping up in neighborhood's around Fresno.

Authorities say these labs are dangerous because they're hidden away in quiet neighborhoods,  around densely populated apartment buildings and foreclosed homes.

According to numbers collected by the Drug Enforcement Agency, meth lab discoveries in California have been going down.

However, the total amount of meth seized across the country has increased, going from 4,800 pounds seized in 2010 up to 8,500 pounds in 2012.

Central Valley officials say meth-related incidents are on the rise.
