Americana Days are taking the place of the "Gold Rush Days" this year due to the drought. The "Americana in Old Sacramento" celebration awaits visitors to the popular historic riverfront district over this Labor Day weekend complete with free live music, classic cars and vintage vehicles, such as 1950s-era buses, emergency vehicles and taxi cabs.
Fireworks enthusiasts have a couple of options to choose from at Lake Tahoe this Labor Day weekend. To name a couple: The South Shore will host its annual Labor Day fireworks display, and a more freshly minted display will also take place in Carnelian Bay at Lake Tahoe’s North Shore.
Gar Woods Grill & Pier and The Monte Foundation will host their second annual Fireworks Spectacular just off the Gar Woods pier Sunday night.
The Chalk It Up Festival takes place in Fremont Park this year. Look for incredible chalk-created art on sidewalks for this Labor Day weekend (Aug 30-Sept 1). Chalk It Up to Sacramento was first established in 1991 as an annual Art & Music Festival. The event sponsors grants & scholarships for youth art programs in all disciplines throughout Sacramento County.
America's biggest and best free rib festival is back and it's free again! The 26th annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off will began this Wednesday and runs through Monday, Labor Day. People can look forward to a rib competition in Victorian Square in downtown Sparks. The event is a must-attend culinary, music, craft, and family end-of-summer affair.
