A few hundred grand. That's how much low water levels in the Sacramento River may cost us. The city council is expected to approve three hundred thousand dollars worth of sediment removal from the water intake plant near Jiboom Street.

Supervising Engineer Dan Sherry says they're trying to install submersible pumps to draw in river water when - because of the drought - it falls below the level of the main pump. They're ground-level though, so the dirt and rocks have to go first. A dive team will do the extraction and the solids will be taken to a landfill.
