A man is in custody following an hours-long standoff with police this morning. The man is accused of firing a gun in the area of Clauss Court and Stockton Boulevard.

A neighbor heard the shots and called police. Police found the man in an apartment but he refused to come out. After talking with hostage negotiators he did come out of the apartment.

Two small boys in the apartment were unharmed. Michele GiGante with the Sacramento Police Department says charges are pending.

"He's under arrest at the very least right now for resisted arrest, we'll look into other charges at this point but again the investigation is starting the roads are still closed right now," GiGante said.

No word on when those roads will reopen. His identity has not been released. No cause for the incident is known.
