The district attorney is charging a man and woman with the murder and torture of a Midtown Sacramento man. Police investigators say Eric Jackson was shot and killed Tuesday morning in an apartment near 17th and O streets after a business deal went bad. Jeremy McMahon and Michelle Okumura were arraigned yesterday on false imprisonment and murder charges.

Okumura is alleged to have used a heated piece of metal to burn Jackson before he was shot to death. Court records show McMahon pleaded no contest in 2000 to robbery and receiving stolen property. In 2001, he was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading no contest to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
