United States Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland is renewing the call for a national BLUE Alert to notify police, the media and the public about attacks on law enforcement officers.

The state of Maryland implemented a BLUE Alert system after the 2010 murder of Maryland State Police Trooper Wesley Brown.

Currently there is no national alert that provides immediate information.

Cardin says based on the success of the AMBER and SILVER Alerts, he believes the BLUE Alert will help to locate criminal suspects who have injured or killed law enforcement officers.
