One teen is dead and another in critical condition after a train in Marysville hit them Friday night.

Yesterday, we learned the teen who died, Mattius Moore, was trying to save his girlfriend, Mikayla Friend.

The couple was at a high school dance when they decided to get some snacks at a nearby store and were walking along the train tracks.

Witnesses say the train conductor sounded the horn for a long time before hitting them.

Now family members are speaking out. Friend’s sister spoke to News 10: For them not to hear it, there must have been some reason. 'She knows better than to walk on the railroad tracks,' she says.

Police say so far it doesn’t appear the victim’s were wearing headphones and there is no evidence of substance abuse.
