A runner who went missing Sunday near Forresthill has been found alive.

Robert Root went running with a group Sunday morning in the Michigan Bluff area near Foresthill. He had been missing for two days.

'Searchers found Mr. Root about two and a half miles from the trail head where the group had run from and he is alert and talking to rescuers,' says Dena Erwin with the Placer County Sheriff's Office.

Erwin says details are still coming in about how Root got lost, and how he survived for several days in the harsh weather. Erwin says rescuers battled mud, and snow, with more in the forecast for this afternoon.
