Undergraduate applications to University of California campuses continue to grow, with more than 148,000 students applying as freshmen to at least one campus across the state.

Officials say this is the 10th straight year that the number of applications has risen, and though it's getting more competetive, there is some good news.

"We will find a place at a UC campus for all eligible students. It may not be necessarily be their first choice, but that is what the master plan promises -- and we aim to uphold it," UC Spokeswoman Dianne Klein said.

Klein says the increases range from 2 percent at UC Merced all the way up to nine-point-six percent at UC Irvine. As for how many applicants will be accepted, that has yet to be determined.
