Murder Charge Against Manteca Pastor Dropped

A Nevada judge has dropped a murder charge against a Manteca pastor, but the Clark County district attorney says he is bringing the case to a grand jury.

Robert Cox, who serves as a pastor at The Place of Refuge in Manteca, was arrested in June for the death of Link Ellingson.

Ellingson died in December, six months after he was struck by Cox during an altercation outside of a restaurant in Las Vegas. Ellingson fell and lapsed into a coma. His death was ruled a homicide.

Cox was with a group from his church at the time of the initial confrontation. Cox has said that he struck Ellingson in an act of self defense after Ellingson threatened, cussed and choked Rob.

The judge also granted a motion for Cox's attorney to return the $100,000 bail since the charge against him has been dropped.
