A car crash on a busy highway north of Napa on Sunday killed a 4-year-old boy and seriously injured his mother.
Cindy Pawlcyn, an award-winning restaurant owner and chef in the wine country, and her husband were in the other car.
They were hurt but are expected to be okay. Pawlcyn owns Go Fish, Brassica, and the Wood Grill & Wine Bar.
She founded Mustards in Yountville and was once the executive chef at the Fog City Diner in San Francisco.
Eyewitnesses say the car with the boy and his mother crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit Pawlcyn's car head-on.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor.
