The House of Representatives today passed the Water Resources Reform and Development Act that could lift the five-year moratorium on building in Natomas.
The reform act allows the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to begin levee protection projects to help prevent flooding in the Natomas region.
The project includes several of the region's most important flood protection priorities, including the authorization of the Natomas Levee Improvement Project.
Sacramento Congresswoman Doris Matsui said today's vote is a major victory of the people of Natomas and all of Sacramento.
The bill now goes to the Senate for full approval.
