NBA Owners to Take First Step Today to Force Sale of L.A. Clippers

Posted May 1st, 2014 @ 7:34am by KFBK News

NBA owners could take the first step today in forcing Donald Sterling to sell the Los Angeles Clippers.

The owners' advisory and finance committee meets in a conference call later today.

A league source says the committee hopes to provide "clarity" on how to proceed.

It comes after commissioner Adam Silver on Tuesday banned Sterling for life and fined him $2.5 million for making racist remarks.

NBA by-laws require a three-fourths vote by the board of governors, the team owners, to force out an owner.

Sterling bought the Clippers for $12 million dollars in 1981.

The team has been valued recently at well over half a billion dollars.
