UC Davis Health System gets caught in a phishing scam and it appears some patient information has been exposed.

Nearly 2,000 patients have had their personal medical information exposed after hackers duped a trio of doctors at UC Davis Health System into turning over their email passwords.

The hackers posed as members of the in-house IT department, but were really on a phishing scam looking for info to steal.

The hackers then accessed those email accounts and stole names, records, and patient numbers, along with some visiting records.

The upside, no social security or credit card numbers appear to have been stolen.

UC Davis is trying to notify the people who may have had their information illegally collected.
