The Nevada County Sheriff’s Department is investigating two near-kidnappings involving a 6-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy as the intended victims.

The first incident, in southern Nevada County, happened last Friday on Magnolia Road when a man attempted to lure a 6-year-old girl into a black Toyota 4-Runner under the pretense that he needed help finding his dog. The 6-year-old girl declined and ran into the back of the home, despite the man’s insistence that she help him.

On Thursday, a man driving a black Dodge Durango approached a 16-year-old on East Hacienda Drive and told the teen he needed help finding something. The teen asked what he was looking for, and the man got agitated. The boy jumped into some bushes and called 911 after dialing his mother.
