A seven-time Pro Bowl linebacker for the Chicago Bears and former Elk Grove High School star has opened up a new restaurant, in part to give back to his community.
Sacramento native, Lance Briggs has a lot to be thankful for after the grand opening of Double-Nickel Smokehouse in Elk Grove.
The NFL star partnered with his Elk Grove High School friend and classmate Cameron Lee and tells News10 the idea for the name came from the number on his jersey -- 55.
Briggs says Bears head coach Marc Trestman let him have Monday off to attend the grand opening, where hundreds of fans showed up to meet the all-star and enjoy some comfort food.
Briggs returns to practice today.
The next time he'll be in California is when the Bears face off against the San Francisco 49ers on September 15 at Levi's Stadium.
