The Oakland Athletics have reached a tentative agreement on a lease extension that will keep them at the Coliseum for at least the next ten years.

That according to Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig.

The team has struggled in its efforts to get a new stadium built in the East Bay city it has called home since 1968 and has been thwarted in attempts to move elsewhere, including San Jose and Fremont.

In commending the agreement, Selig said it's a "crucial first step towards keeping Major League Baseball in Oakland."

There's been no official comment yet from the team or its owner Lew Wolff.
