It's St. Patrick's Day, and a reminder, law enforcement is out in force to make sure you don't drink and drive.
In both Sacramento and Placer counties, DUI Task Forces are patrolling the streets and roadways looking for drunken drivers.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports more than 269 people were killed nationwide in crashes involving drunk drivers during the St. Patrick's Day holiday from 2007 to 2011.
Most of these fatalities were preventable.
1. Before you go out, plan a safe way to return home.
2. If you're impaired, use a taxi or call a sober friend or family member.
3. If you see a drunk driver on the road, call 9-1-1. You may save a life.
4. If you see a drunk person about to get into the car and drive, take their keys and help them make other arrangements.
