A pair of fires that are completely unrelated to each other have one matching component: Official think they are both arson.

The investigation on both sets of fires are keeping investigators busy.

The first set of fires hit Monday afternoon in Rio Linda. A barn and a trailer were set alight. The flames were close to a home and guesthouse. More than 20 firefighters worked to protect the dwellings from the fires. The barn and a vintage Model-A Ford inside it were a total loss, as was the trailer. Loss is estimated at around $50,000.

Then, around 10 p.m. Monday, fire struck a home and a garage in the Arden Arcade area.

In that fire the garage was again a compete loss as firefighters worked to save the home and its contents.

Damage estimates there are about $200,000.

Both fire appear suspicious.
