Less than a month after the deadly crash near Orland, there's another fatal accident on I-5 involving a big rig.
CHP officers say the semi-driver tried to avoid a collision with wrong-way driver in the the northbound lanes of I-5 just about 1:40 Friday morning.
CHP says that first car was nearly cut in two and the driver killed.
In the attempt to prevent that head-on collision the big-rig driver swerved out of his lanes on I-5 near the Woodbridge overcrossing, just west of Lodi.
"He then crossed the center median and then was traveling northbound for just a short distance in the southbound lanes. During that time, he collided with a second vehicle," CHP spokesman James Smith said.
Smith says no one was seriously hurt in the second collision.
No word on whether alcohol or drugs were involved with the wrong-way way driver.
All lanes of southbound I-5 were closed for cleanup and investigation efforts. One lane of northbound I-5 was also closed.
The lanes of I-5 have since re-opened.
