A childs birthday party turned into a scene of tragedy and chaos Saturday evening after gunmen opened fired in Paragrine Park. 

A total of seven people were shot including a 7-year old girl. 

One man was killed and has been identified as 29-year-old Jacoby James.

Witnesses in the neighborhood park heard up to 30 gun shots, some they said, were return fire. 

"I heard it was gang related and that's really scary," one woman said.  

Officer Doug Morse with Sacramento PD spoke about the injuries among the other victims. 

"Most of them were quite lucky, there was two leg wounds, one foot wound," he said. 

Detectives are trying to talk to everyone they can, but some witnesses don't want to talk for fear of retaliation.
