Police in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson are confirming one person was shot during last night's protests over the deadly shooting of an unarmed Black teenager.
Missouri Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson says the gunman was apparently among the protesters and also shot at a police car.
The victim is in critical condition.
Officers fired smoke canisters to break up the crowds, but began using tear gas when they heard reports of shots being fired. The shooter ran off.
A curfew will be in effect again in Ferguson, Missouri tonight starting at midnight and running until 5 a.m.
Missouri Highway Patrol officials say seven people were arrested early this morning for failing to disperse after a curfew took effect.
Ferguson has been at the center of controversy since unarmed Black teenager Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer more than a week ago.
