California's attorney general is going after a corporation which runs private colleges in the Sacramento area. Attorney General Kamala Harris has filed suit.

The lawsuit alleges Corinthian Colleges Inc., misrepresented job placement rates and school programs to lure low-income state residents.

According to the attorney general's office, Santa Ana-based Corinthian and its subsidiaries run Everest, Heald and WyoTech colleges and have 81,000 students nationwide.

There's a Heald campus in Rancho Cordova. A WyoTech campus in West Sac is due to close soon.

Harris called the company's practices "predatory" in a statement and said they were designed to rake in profits and mislead investors.

Company spokesman Kent Jenkins said he had just become aware of the suit and planned to fight it.
