If you get a call from strange number you don't recognize, you may not want to call them back.
Scamsters from the Caribbean -- where most phone scams originate -- are using autodialers and ringing random numbers in the hopes of running their latest con on you.
They ring your line once and hang up.
You see it as a call from a number you don't recognize and call back.
When you do, they got you.
You're calling a long distance line and being charged a hefty fee for it, sometimes $30 for the call and $9 a minute.
Most of these calls seem to be coming from numbers of Caribbean-based area codes.
It's smart to check out where the calls came from before you dial.
Here are the known suspect area codes:
473, 809, 876, 284, 268
