A bear cub, who officials surmise, couldn't hibernate frolicked with the skiers at Heavenly Tahoe on Monday.

The cub would run up to greet people getting off a chairlift at Heavenly, much to the surprise of skiers.  Ski Rescue members saw him and noticed he'd somehow injured his shoulder.  They tranquilized the bear and sent him down the mountain to Alpine Animal Hospital where Veterinarian Kevin Willitts helped sew him up.  He told News10 how the bear might have gotten injured.

"He could have been attacked by a dog or a coyote.  He could have fallen off a steep cliff of some kind," Willitts said.

Now dubbed 'Heavenly-The-Bear', he's resting at the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care Shelter.  Heavenly will put on weight, rest up and be ready for Spring when he'll be released back into the wild.
