Placer County Deputy Pleads Not Guilty to Underage Sex Charges
Posted Tuesday, August 5th 2014 @ 8am  by KFBK News - Tim Lantz

A Placer County deputy facing four felony charges of sex with underage girl has his day in court.

Kenneth Skogen says he's not guilty of the charges filed against him. He entered that plea in court with his lawyer by his side.

Prosecutors say Skogen was having sex with a 17-year-old girl between 2010 and 2011.

She was  an "Explorer Scout" with the Sheriff's Department -- that's a group of youth volunteers.

You might recall Skogen was being called the "Hero Deputy" after saving a woman from a burning home in 2007's 49 wildfire.

He was also in the news four years ago when his 4-year-old daughter accidentally shot and killed herself with his gun.

Skogen is free on $100,000 bail.

He's due back in court on August 27.
