A 14-year-old student was arrested Wednesday after police said he brought a gun to Rocklin High School.

A news release from the school says the student pulled out the handgun about 15 minutes after classes ended for the day.

Within an hour, the school's administration knew what had happened and immediately contacted the Rocklin police.

Officers investigated and got the boy into custody quickly.

Rocklin High School Principal David Bills thanked the quick actions of students and parents, saying a potentially dangerous incident was avoided because of their information.
