A speeding driver is lucky to be alive after a crash early this morning in Sacramento.

According to Sacramento police, they spotted a two-door Acura around 2:30 a.m. near Truxel Boulevard, they followed the car to eastbound Interstate 80 where the driver was traveling at speeds higher than 100 miles per hour.

As they started to pursue the car, it exited at Norwood Avenue, where the driver lost control and launched off the enbankment.

The car shot between two trees, over a chain link fence and slammed into a concrete canal wall. Police said the driver tried to run away from the wreck by collapsed due to his injuries.

He was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center, and is listed in stable condition.
