SACRAMENTO -- A forgotten part of Sacramento could be transformed into a center for innovation.
It was once called Ramona. It was once home to the California Youth Authority. Now it's just a 250-acre plot of land. But the Power Inn Alliance -- a group of business leaders promoting development along Power Inn Road -- is hoping to change all that.
"We're hoping to get some innovation industries, technology and the like, that will take advantage of the proximity to Sac State, and employ some of the students at Sac State -- it's just a nice linkage to have to a major university like that," Jerry Vorpahl with Power Inn Alliance said.
Vorpahl says a Planning Commission hearing is set for Thursday and it will be presented to City Council for final approval later this year.
